Dear Roosevelt Families,

As the amazing Mr. Rogers said, “...we parents are the holders of a priceless gift, a gift we received from countless generations we never knew, a gift that only we now possess and only we can give to our children. That unique gift, of course, is the gift of ourselves. Whatever we can do to give that gift, and to help others receive it, is worth the challenge of all our human endeavors.” 

 

Roosevelt Community, rest assured that you have indeed passed on the gift of yourselves to the future generation! Together we have been able to give music, art, joy, and belonging to our kids. Your donations, volunteering, support, and general good nature add up to a village that is able to provide our youth with a safety net of love and opportunity. 

 

When our PTA decided that this year’s theme was “The Future is Bright,” we wanted to focus on giving our children as many resources as we could to help them reach their dreams and goals. Hopefully this year your child was able to discover a love of dance or painting, the delight in playing in Teddy Bear park as the sun sets and families gather on the grass, or the simple pleasure of curling up on the couch while their favorite grown up reads The Wild Robot out loud. 

 

Of course, the most tangible way to track success is by reporting how much money we earned and what we spent it on, but the far more important barometer of success is how your children felt this year and the experiences that shaped them! 

 

Coming to school events and encouraging your child to belong to their community is one of the best ways to build confidence and shared history. Actively participating in those events through volunteering, donating, or simply being present is one of the most effective ways to demonstrate that you are invested in the interests of your child. 

 

Thank you for all that you do. I hope you as parents and caregivers also felt supported and included in our Roosevelt village. 

 

Your PTA team has already started planning next year and we hope that it is as magical as this year was!
